For the last 17 years, all Colorado Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage stores participate in Check Out Hunger each holiday season. They match donations from patrons and have raised enough to provide over 700,000 meals for children in need in our community. Thanks Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage!!

The Lakewood Vitamin Cottage donated a gorgeous gift basket to Parent Pathways 2009 "Miles for Moms" Run/Walk. Thanks!

Vitamin Cottage has been mentioned by a lot of our nonprofit partners, and they've got great food at pretty good prices as well. Probably the best place to get your groceries when you're downtown in Denver.

Have loved Vitamin Cottage (excuse me, Natural Grocers BY Vitamin Cottage) for years. As a retired LaLeche League leader I searched for inexpensive healthy foods to recommend to our nursing moms and VC filled the bill. All clean (unlike other pretend health food stores)ingredients, mostly all prices well affordable (guess it's becuz it's family owned yet)and fills the bill for us 'cooking at home' moms, which is cheaper these days. I found lots of meats we eat (since we mostly eat simple cuts anyway, it was perfect). can hit the downtown store on the way home from work. it just feels more comfortable to shop there than the 'others'. I need to get a job there, I really like the people that work in most of their stores. Eating healthy saves on my medical bills too. Nice place to visit and I try not to live there, but I get caught wandering way too long.

The Vitamin Cottage sits on the corner of 15th St. and Platte. It's a neighborhood grocer serving the lower highland and riverfront park neighborhoods.

Typically the Vitamin Cottage serves as a sort of alternative to the alternative grocery stores. They focus on vitamins (surprise) and a smattering of highly organic and premium foods. It's not meant to be your one stop grocery store, it's meant to be a complement to your whole foods or local Safeway.

The problem is that this store IS the neighborhood grocery store. Residents are dependent on the Vitamin Cottage for all of their grocery needs. So it can be quite frustrating when half of the store is snake oil...err vitamins. While they have very basic meats (chicken or beef), they are severely lacking in proteins. Instead of vitamins, how about selling fish? How about more varied meats?

Overall, however, I love the store. The longer they have been open the more they have embraced their role as grocery store. They stock more breads, more staples, and have increased the variety of fruits and vegetables. We've been dependent on the Vitamin Cottage for almost two years. We are there almost every night buying food for that nights meal. We appreciate that it's not outrageously expensive (the prices are on par with Whole Foods). Overall they are an integral and important part of our neighborhood and for that we recommend them wholeheartedly.
